Play CD Audio Books On An MP3 Player!

How to convert Audio Books on CD into a format compatible with your favorite MP3 Player or Handheld PDA.

Converting your audiobook from CD to MP3, AAC, or other portable digital device format is actually very simple. TheAudioBookStore has broken down the process for you in just three simple steps. Once you've learned this process, you'll be able to quickly and painlessly convert your entire audio book library into a format transferable to most any MP3 player including Apple's iPod, as well as MP3 compatible phones such as the Palm Treo 650 and 700.

What you'll need:

  • Audio Book on CD
  • Windows PC or Macintosh with a CD or DVD Drive
  • Apple iTunes
  • Your Favorite MP3 Player

Step 1: Install iTunes

The first thing you'll need to do is make sure you have Apple's iTunes installed on your computer. To do this, click on the Start Menu in the lower left corner of your computer screen, select All Programs, then look for iTunes in the pop-up list. If you do not have iTunes installed, click here and download and install the latest version for free.

Step 2: Insert the Audio Book CD

Once you've installed, or verified you already have iTunes, launch (open) iTunes and insert the Audiobook CD into your CD-ROM or DVD drive. If the audio book contains more than one CD, insert CD #1. After a few seconds you should see the CD icon in the iTunes window. If you forget to open iTunes before inserting the CD, a window will pop up in the middle of your screen asking you what you want Windows to do [with the CD]. Click on Show Songs Using iTunes and you'll get the same results as noted above.

Step 3: Convert Tracks to MP3 or AAC

Most audio book tracks will convert to AAC format which is generally suitable for most any MP3 player. MP3 format is the most common and well known but either format should do. In iTunes, select the tracks one-by-one until all tracks of the CD have been selected (do this by Shift-clicking each track). Once selected, go to the menu Advanced and select Convert Selection to AAC (or MP3, whichever format is shown).
